About Me

I have degrees from Ricks College (now BYU-I), a BA in Music Ed from Utah State U., and a MA in Music Ed from Western Illinois University. I started teaching Music K-12 in 1987-1988, at Eureka NV. Let’s see, my favorite subject is….Hmm…Music?  I appreciate all of the support and encouragement for the Arts that I have seen since I began teaching here in the SLCSD. I have actually taught at Meadowlark twice before, in the past few years and a couple of decades ago.  Outside of many musical interests, our family spends a lot of time in support of Autism awareness.

Our Music classes will all be online, for the first months of this school year, and all 4th and 5th students should be following along in their respective Music courses on Canvas.  We will be updating Lessons each week (we are team-teaching these, for now), and checking everyone’s progress in them, but we are trying to make them as fun as we can, and still learn more about Music!  This will probably work the same way in a Blended/Hybrid mode, so Band, Strings & Choir won’t really happen (like last year) until the District is in a Safe/Green “New Normal” mode.

All 4th graders should have this Course [] on their Dashboard, but if not they may have to go into "Courses-->All Courses" and click the "Star" to make sure Music appears on the Dashboard, if it’s not already there.

All 5th graders should have this Course [] on their Dashboard, but if not they may have to go into "Courses-->All Courses" and click the "Star" to make sure Music appears on the Dashboard, if it’s not already there.

Stay safe, happy, and keep Washing Your Hands

I monitor my email every day, but I have a Zoom Office Help (“live”) between 2pm-3pm, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and Wednesdays from 9am-11am. The Link to this is in each of the Canvas courses.

Be hearing from you soon!         – Mr. Lyon
